New Books!!

For those that love to read, love books must know how it feels like to get yourself a new book. I couldn't describe exactly what that feeling is but all I know is when I got myself a new book, it's like a reward to my soul because to me, reading is such a blissful satisfaction. It doesn't matter what type of book it is, it might be just a Doraemon comic, a cook book or a Sophie Kinsella, buying books gives me excitement. Even just a mere sight of a book makes me feel better.

Being a postgraduate student, I'm eligible to receive the BB1M (book voucher) from UMS. The voucher I received worth RM250 which I personally think is really insufficient for a postgraduate student because textbooks' price ranges start from RM100 and above. So I decided that I am not going to use the vouchers to buy those precious textbooks because they are too expensive and with RM250 worth of vouchers, I can buy way more books than just spending it on textbooks that I won't be probably using it after I graduated. HAHA! Being a good sister that I always am *coughs*, I brought my 2 younger siblings who are in form 5 and form 2 to buy them reference books, buku latih tubi for each subjects and SPM past year question book for each subjects. I spent almost RM120 on their books and used RM100 voucher for that purchase and that was when I just received the vouchers. I didn't use all the vouchers at that time because I didn't see any books that I like so I decided to use it on my next visit to Times Bookstore.

Months passed by and I only remember that I have some vouchers left exactly 3 days before they expire, thank heavens that I eventually remember about it. So 3 days left, I didn't manage to go to any bookstore because I was busy with my thesis, deadlines and other stuff. So my solution? ONLINE SHOPPING! And the only online shop that accepts BB1M is MPH Online, I bet no one knows that MPH online actually accepts voucher payment. This is so convenient especially for students as there are certain reference books or textbooks that are unavailable at the local store and only big chain bookstore has them.

So let's take a look on my recent book haul!

After placing my order on MPHOnline.com, the books arrived 4 days after since it has to be flown in from KL. It was packed in a neat box with bubble wraps, most books are still in their plastic wrappers. I must say that I am very happy with the service as it was my first time purchasing books online. I started to read 8,789 Words of Wisdom first as at that time I was so down and in need for a positivity pick-me-up. The book is filled with 8,789 short wisdom quotes. I can flip to any pages that I want and pick any wisdom to read, such a fun book. Will definitely give a review on this book later. But the book that I am soo looking forward to is Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki by one of my favorite author Haruki Murakami. I've been reading and hearing tons of great reviews about his latest piece but I have yet to find time to read it, will read it once I'm done with my thesis.

I used to be a heavy reader, I can finish a book on average 2-4 days. I would be so attached to a book that I don't even sleep but unfortunately I am not like that anymore. It took me so long to finish a book with an average thickness. I hope that I will get my reading groove back on.

"One glance at a book and you hear the voice of another person, perhaps someone dead for 1,000 years. To read is to voyage through time."
Carl Sagan

Daily routine during no internet!

I'm very sure that people nowadays who live in the modern era can't live without the internet. Don't worry you internet-holics out there, I won't judge cos yours truly here is one of you too. Hehe. To go through 1 day internet-less is hard and painful, can you imagine living without it for 3 weeks? It was almost unbearable but in my case, the excruciating part only lasted for 3 days. The first day was the hardest, switching off the modem and hoping the internet will be back again once it was switched on was just a false hope. Then on the second day, the TMNet called and brought in the bad news totally killed my last bit of hope. I was so angry and my moods were just all over the place. I felt better on the third day cos my dad went to TMNet office in KK to lashed out his anger, 'Serves you right, TMNet! Now have a taste of my dad's rampage!!' keep playing in my head. I kept coaxing myself that everything will be fine and it turned out to be fine indeed.

Well everything was okay and without the internet, I have lotsss of free time. During those difficult days of not having internet, my daily routine consists of:
1. House chores
2. Reading
3. Spending time with the family
4. Studying
5. Playing games
6. Be with the boyfriend

I spent most of my time reading and I've finished 5 books, well actually 3 e-books and 2 actual books.

Yes, The Hunger Games Trilogy got me hooked! After watching The Hunger Games with the boyfriend, I can't wait to know the ending and immediately download these e-books into my phone cos I was broke. Whether Katniss will be with Peeta or Gale, you have to read your own to find out!

These are the real books that I finished. The Vagina Monologues is really funny and the book is about woman's ultimate forbidden zone, which is the *cough* genitalia *cough* and celebrating female sexuality in all its complexity and mystery. I really enjoy reading the author's experiences and what other women think about their 'down there'.

The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks took me the longest time to finish. I would say that it is a little boring and I feel that it is the most uninteresting book from Sparks. Eek!

So that's all for this post and I feel sleepy now.
Until next post,
au revoir! :)

By posting this up, you now know how boring my life is...

of love and other things...

The much hyped about day that get people to be in the mood of celebrating love and become more romantic than usual has come to visit us again the day is none other than... Valentine's Day! Before this, I have always celebrated Valentine's day with my family and friends but not this this year. Joel is finally back for good for his practical and I am finally able to celebrate it with him. To be honest, I am having this butterflies and jitters just because it would our maiden Valentine's Day celebration together. I am excited to  be with him tomorrow despite texting each other every single day, we haven't seen each other for weeks. Well, he has been busy with work and had to go to kampung on the weekends.

I am not bragging about my love life, just so everyone knows. I can't help but to feel how grateful and blessed I am having to know him and I am glad that my family seem to have no problem that Joel and I are a couple. My friends are happy about us too, they even told me that Joel and I kinda look the same which a little funny to me but as they, couple that resembles each other, stays together.

Move on to other things shall we?

All good things will come to an end and by good thing I mean semester break. I have registered for the new semester and class will start probably by this week or next but I am having problems to register my final 3 subjects. And yes, I am now in my final semester before my internship. I just can't wait for my last semester to end! ( I go talking about semester ending but class hasn't ever started yet -__-) I collected my RM200 book voucher and I have spent half of it on 2 Haruki Murakami books, coloring book and stationaries for my younger siblings.

South of The Border, West of The Sun

The Elephant Vanishes

I always wanted to read these 2 books and I have strikethrough them on my wishlist! I am a huge fan of Haruki Murakami after reading Norwegian Wood, which he wrote.

So, I dyed my hair right before CNY. I am so bored of my black hair, obviously. And I dyed it brown.

*Just ignore my chubby cheeks -_-

P/S:  Before I forget, Happy Valentine's Day from me to you! Much ♥ :)
